Hotel planned for Herne Bay Golf Club
Plans have been submitted for the first phase of a 90-bed hotel development at Herne Bay Golf Club in Canterbury.
Developer Hollamby Estates received outline planning permission from Canterbury City Council at the end of last year, but as a condition the project has to be carried out in phases, resulting in the need for a reserved matters application.
The first phase of the plan includes the demolition of three buildings at the club and the construction of a greenkeeper's building and helicopter pad. The plans, which also include a restaurant, pub and hotel in subsequent phases, were created by DHA Planning.
Existing facilities at the golf club include an 18-hole links course designed by James Braid, two bars, a putting green and practice ground, golf club and pro shop. The course was originally established in 1889 and extended by Braid in 1913.
