The most useful function is that a microprocessor built into the monitor analyses the reading and is able to determine whether the reading is normal or abnormal and notifies accordingly, thus replacing the need for a specialist.

Just like with raised blood pressure, a client who offers an abnormal reading can be referred to their GP to be checked over. This allows the GP to confirm to the club or Personal Trainer that the client is fit to exercise: passing the full risk for this client from the club to the GP.
