Increased profits for Lancashire CCC
Lancashire County Cricket Club (LCCC) has reported that its pre-tax profits have increased by more than £74,000 to £258,664 for 2008 despite a reduction in match receipts and membership revenue.
The club's figures compare with a 15-month period reported for 2007, and have been boosted by income generated by two concerts held at its Old Trafford stadium, as well as the club's catering business and occupancy levels at the Old Trafford Lodge. However, LCCC has revealed that it is expecting a tough year in 2009 due to the current economic climate and a lack of Test Match cricket, although the club will continue to invest in the £200m redevelopment of the Old Trafford stadium.
LCCC chief executive Jim Cumbes said: "In these testing economic times, where hospitality bookings, sales and even membership are difficult to maintain, these results show that the Club has a very strong business model across the board to steer us through these tough years."
