India’s O2 Spa acquires Zazen Spa
Indian day spa giant O2 Spa has acquired Zazen Spa, which operates 18 outlets across Bengaluru, Mubai and Pune. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The 18 Zazen Spa outlets will become a part of O2 Spa, and as a result will be known as Zazen Spa from the House of O2 Spa. These outlets will be in hotel, resort and standalone formats.
Therapists from Zazen Spa have undergone training in service standards and customer experience at O2 Skills, O2 Spa’s in-house training facility, based in Telangana, India.
Ritesh Mastipuram, founder and managing director of O2 Spa said: “This acquisition of Zazen Spa gives us a wide reach to our current and prospective clients in prime locations in Bangalore, Mumbai and Pune and is a progression for O2 Spa to deliver on our vision to bring wellness as close as possible to the customer.”
O2 Spa recently announced that it will invest $15m (€14.1m; £11.8m) in an expansion plan to take itself into 30 cities across India with 150 outlets in total. The company currently operates 60 centres in 17 cities.
Accountancy firm PwC has previously projected big growth for the Indian wellness industry, as rising income levels and increasing awareness of health create significant opportunities for wellness groups.
