Information gathering starts on 2 December until 20 December

Leisure DB is starting its research for the State of the UK Fitness Industry Report 2025 and is asking operators to stand by for questioning in December.

This annual independent market intelligence is a valuable resource for the fitness sector, and can only be undertaken with input from the operators.

“It is critical that we speak to every gym in the UK, ensuring the data we hold on each site is complete and up-to-date,” says Leisure DB founder, David Minton.

“If our fantastic sector is to reach its full potential and get the recognition it deserves, we need robust data that evidences our reach and impact; fuels discussion and learning; and inspires evolution and growth. This is what our renowned State of the Industry Reports are all about.

“We then need to freely share that data for the good of the whole sector, which is why we made our flagship reports free to read in 2024 – something we are committed to doing again in 2025.”

Leisure DB’s research team is poised to start work on Monday 2 December, until Friday 20 December and is aiming to make individual contact with each one of the UK’s 7000+ gyms.

The team will be looking to find out: address of the club, size, owner/management company, year of opening, membership packages/adult peak fee, equipment suppliers, details of group exercise studios, pools and sports facilities, car parking and member management system used.

The call will be coming, so managers are asked to brief their teams and empower them to provide this key data.

Alternatively, they can request an electronic version of the audit by contacting [email protected]. This allows gyms to review, update and return the information at their convenience.

A third option is to call the research team on 0161 532 9099 (2–20 December only, 9am–5pm Monday to Friday).

Jamie Buck, Leisure DB CTO, says: “We look forward to speaking with everyone and ensuring our State of the UK Fitness Industry Report 2025 is as invaluable a resource as ever.”
