Irish resort Powerscourt reveals new focus for flagship spa
Five-star Irish resort, Powerscourt, has unveiled its reimagined 20-treatment-room spa with a new name – Powerscourt Spa and Wellness.
“Our goal is to cultivate a haven where guests can focus on their wellbeing, rediscover a sense of balance and truly restore themselves,” said Kellie Ann Hayden, director of spa and wellness. “The spa concept has evolved to embrace a philosophy where nature, science and heritage combine.”
Part of the evolution of the offering includes a broader focus on wellbeing, with the resort’s surrounding landscape playing a role.
The resort boasts views of Sugarloaf Mountain and is situated adjacent to Powerscourt Gardens, voted number three in the World’s Top 10 Gardens by National Geographic. Guests can explore ancient woodlands around the Estate through a series of trails and paths, with complimentary bicycle use.
“We’re incredibly fortunate to be set within such a rich natural landscape in County Wicklow, the garden of Ireland," explains Hayden. "We see the outdoors as an extension of the wellness experience at Powerscourt. From the moment our guests book, we begin to communicate this connection through our pre-arrival correspondence, curated packages and suggested itineraries.
“Guests are encouraged to explore the estate and surrounding area through activity-focused experiences such as walking trails, garden visits, waterfall visits, local hikes and nature-based moments of calm,” she continued. “Our goal is to ensure guests feel wellness isn’t confined to the spa, it’s something they can experience throughout their stay by simply stepping outside and engaging with the environment around them.”
The spa will also be a flagship for Hungarian skincare brand, Omorovicza, which has created a series of exclusive rituals blending Irish inspiration with Hungarian heritage, including a Blue Diamond Performance Facial, the Moor Mud Ritual and the Powerscourt Signature Ritual.
“With its origins in Hungary, widely regarded as a birthplace of spa culture, Omorovicza adds a new depth of ritual and authenticity to our treatments, with exceptionally high-quality products and results,” said Hayden. “This has been met with great enthusiasm from both guests and our team, who have embraced the training, education and the performance-led nature of the treatments. It has been an exciting new chapter for our spa, one that complements our history while allowing us to continue evolving.”
Hayden said the move is in line with the changing expectations of guests, who are increasingly seeking more immersive, personalised and results-driven experiences.
Powerscourt will also introduce a heat experience, dry flotation and a hydro bath later this year, designed to elevate the thermal journey.
Hayden is working on the addition of more holistic wellness packages, including outdoor meditation experiences designed to help guests embrace the serene surroundings of Powerscourt.
“Our vision is to develop wellness experiences that are not only luxurious, but deeply restorative, personal and connected to place,” said Hayden.
