Leigh Indoor Sports Centre on target for January opening
A temporary marketing suite has opened this week at Leigh Sixth Form College in Wigan Borough to encourage residents to sign up for membership of the new Leigh Indoor Sports Centre, which is due to open on 2 January 2008.
The £6.4m centre, funded by Greenbank Partnership, Wigan Council and Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust will boast a 25m, six-lane swimming pool, an eight-court sports hall, a 65-station Profiles health and fitness suite, a multi-purpose room for classes, an aerobics suite and a changing village.
Centre manager Mike Woodruff said: “We are keen to give as many people as possible a chance to use this great new facility.
“We have deliberately set the prices at an affordable rate because we want this to be a sports centre for all people living locally and across the borough.
“The sports centre is at the very heart of Leigh Sports Village which is progressing into one of the best facilities of its type in the north west. We are very proud of what we’ve achieved and I would urge people to come along and see for themselves what is on offer.”
Special introductory offers are available for people joining before the end of December this year and the first 100 people to sign up will receive a free goodie bag.
