London Dungeon reopens on South Bank
Popular UK attraction The London Dungeon, operated by Merlin Entertainments, has reopened at a new location on the city's South Bank following a £20m investment.
Adjacent to two other Merlin Entertainments attractions - the London Eye and Sea Life London Aquarium - it boasts 18 shows, using actors within detailed sets, and two thrill rides.
Features include a "medieval" lift, Guy Fawkes conspirators show, a maze set in Jack the Ripper's Whitechapel and a ride based on the Newgate Gallows, which plummets visitors three storeys through the dark.
Architectural designers Kay Elliott have integrated the design of the attraction within the grade II-listed County Hall, in which it is housed.
Kay Elliott director, Tanya Griffiths, said: "We worked with a fantastic design team, including theming designers, specialists in environmental engineering, lighting and audio visual design, to achieve what is part live theatre, part historic interpretation, and part themed attraction."
