London and Partners (L&P) has selected The Sports Consultancy to draw up a framework which identifies the priority international sporting events for the capital in future years.

In its role as strategic adviser to the agency, The Sports Consultancy will carry out a review of L&P's objectives for attracting events and analyse a long-list of potential targets.

The outcome of the consulting firm's work will inform which events will be seen as priority targets between 2013 and 2020, but the level of support needed from the city.

L&P's Alexandra Goldschmidt said: "We have already secured a number of post-Games events that fit within our strategy, such as the 2013 World Series Triathlon Grand Final, the 2015 EuroHockey Championships and the 2017 World Athletics Championships.

"The Sports Consultancy's work will help us refine the criteria for developing further opportunities with international federations, rights-holders and event organisers."

The Sports Consultancy managing director Robert Datnow added: "We look forward to working with the client team and wider stakeholders to deliver this important project for the capital."
