Marriott plans major Thailand expansion
Marriott International is planning to add 3,000 rooms to its existing portfolio of hotels in Thailand from 2016.
The group has signed seven management agreements with TCC Hotels Group, which will see the US hospitality company operating seven TCC hotels across the country.
The agreement will add 3,000 rooms to Marriott International's existing 12 hotels of 3,110 rooms across Thailand.
The group will take on the management of two existing hotels and five new build properties across the country in Bangkok, Phuket, HuaHin and Pattaya.
The seven new properties include the HuaHin Marriott Resort & Spa, Pattaya Marriott Resort & Spa, Jomtien Beach, JW Marriott Pattaya Resort & Spa, Marriott Hotel, Bangkok and The Ritz-Carlton, Bangkok.
The Imperial Queen's Park Hotel, Bangkok will also be rebranded as Bangkok Marriott Hotel Queen's Park and the Imperial Adamas Phuket Beach Resort is to be rebranded as Phuket Marriott Resort & Spa, Nai Yang Beach.
Simon Cooper, Marriott International's president of Asia Pacific, said: "I believe this partnership shows our commitment to and faith in Thailand as a strategically important business and leisure destination in South East Asia.
"Managing this portfolio of TCC hotels in the country will allow us to extend our product offering and brands in Thailand, and enable domestic and international travellers to experience our hotels and world-class service."
