Michelin awards highest number of stars yet
The Michelin Guide Great Britain & Ireland has awarded stars to 15 new restaurants this year, bringing the total up to 122 – the highest number yet.
Gordon Ramsay’s Pétrus restaurant was given a second star, while his other London site, La Noisette, received its first award.
Chef patron at Pétrus, Marcus Wareing, said: “I’ve been working for this for years, it’s like receiving an Oscar for a chef.”
The other additions are: The Abbey in Penzance; Arbutus in Soho; L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon in Covent Garden; Atlantic in Jersey; Benares in Mayfair; Chapter One in Dublin; Christophe in Guernsey; The Crown at Whitebook in Monmouth; Glenapp Castle in South Ayrshire; The Harrow in Marlborough; The Kitchen in Edinburgh and Seaham Hall in Durham.
Several restaurants received “Rising Star” accolades, including the Foliage at the Manderin Oriental Hyde Park Hotel in Westminster, Combe House in Honiton, Devon and Linen Room in Dumfries. Details: www.michelin.co.uk
