FIFA to continue goal-line technology tests
World football governing body FIFA has invited companies to come forward with goal-line technology (GLT) solutions as part of further testing to be carried out over the coming year.
FIFA has been appointed by the International Football Association Board (IFAB), following its decision in March to extend its investigations into the potential introduction of GLT. Interested parties have until 3 June to signal interest in participating in FIFA's tests, with the first stage to be carried out between September and December.
Phase One of testing will see each system subjected to a number of stringent criteria in both daytime and nighttime conditions, including signal range and a goal indication to the referee. A shortlist of companies will then be drawn up by FIFA - in conjunction with IFAB - ahead of a second phase of testing to be carried out between March-June 2012.
