Neville 'to fund' new venue for MUFC fans

By Pete Hayman    19 May 2011

Gary Neville, the former Manchester United Football Club (MUFC) player, has revealed his intention to help fund a new building for supporters near the club's Old Trafford stadium.

To be located adjacent to the Manchester Ship Canal off Sir Matt Busby Way, the facility is to be capable of accommodating up to 1,500 MUFC fans on matchdays. Neville has announced that he plans to use some of the proceeds from his testimonial match on 24 May to help fund the venue, which could be open ahead of the 2013/4 season.

"I always thought that if I was ever lucky enough to have a testimonial I wanted to create something special for the fans," said Neville. "That something for me was a place where the fans could meet and share their love and passion for Manchester United."
