New play equipment for Essex pool site
Tendring District Council (TDC) has announced the completion of work to install £35,000 worth of electronic play equipment next to Dovercourt Swimming Pool.
Located in Lower Marine Play, the Play Alive piece of equipment will be powered by solar and wind energy and enables young people to play a range of team games. Play Alive, which is designed for children aged at least eight years old, boasts a climbing frame and flashing lights, and will allows a choice of pre-programmed activities or independent use.
TDC cabinet member for leisure Stephen Mayzes said: "To have the first piece of electronic equipment in Dovercourt Bay demonstrates the council's commitment to investment in this part of Tendring and also to improving child's play provision." Play Alive is part of a wider £288,000 programme of play projects funded by the Big Lottery Fund, with three of the five projects now complete.
