Oxford Story to close
The Oxford Story visitor attraction will close on 28 October after 20 years of operating in the UK city.
Continuum, the York-based company which operates the site, said the decision was made after significant investment to redevelop and renew the attraction was deemed ‘unviable’.
the site will now be converted into accommodation and conferencing facilities by Oxford University’s Jesus College. The college recently received planning permission for the work and contracts have already been signed with Continuum.
The decision to close the attraction, which attracted around 100,000 visitors a year, will not affect the operation of Continuum’s other Oxford site, the Oxford Castle Unlocked attraction.
Juliana Delaney, deputy chief executive of Continuum, said: “The Oxford Story has been a successful visitor attraction but would now require significant investment. We will now focus on the Oxford Castle site which opened last year.”
The company is now seeking a buyer for the sets, figures and ride.
