Tourism South East is holding a one-day event at Arundel Castle tomorrow (3 March).

The conference, titled Stick with it - win in recession and get to gold! will be attended by tourism information staff and tourism officers across the South East.

Delegates will hear about the effects of the credit crunch, and the opportunities for the South East tourism sector as more holidaymakers look to stay in Britain in 2009.

At the event, Tourism South East will also urge Tourism Information Centres (TIC) to prepare for 2012, using technology to better capture and use visitor data in marketing activity.

Speakers will outline lessons learned in previous Olympics and Paralympics host countries.

TICs will be encouraged to raise their game in selling local destinations, accommodation and attractions to visitors in the short-break and day trip market.
