Plans submitted for Liberty Stadium expansion
Swansea City FC has submitted a formal planning application for the expansion of Liberty Stadium to accommodate an additional 11,000 spectators.
The phased approach would start with the expansion of the East stand to take an additional 3,844 spectators, with phases two and three expanding the North and South stands.
The work is expected to take three to five years to complete, and would increase the stadium's current capacity of 20,750 by more than 50 per cent.
The club said that satisfying demand for tickets has been 'virtually impossible' since the team entered the Premier League last season and the proposals seek to capitalise on the team's success and consolidate this status.
A robust travel plan was a key part of the proposal including a comprehensive park and ride scheme.
Liberty Stadium is also used by the Ospreys rugby team.
