RJ McLeod has been awarded the public realm construction contract worth £8.5m as part of the wider £41m Helix regeneration project between Falkirk and Grangemouth in Scotland.
The public realm elements include the revitalisation of 100 acres (40 hectares) of vacant land into an innovative 'people park' and the creation of a canal hub with visitor facilities.
Andy Scott's Kelpies - two 30m (98ft)-high stainless steel-plated horses' heads - are to form part of the canal hub, which is expected to attract more than 350,000 visitors a year.
The public realm contract also includes the creation of an outdoor events area; enhancements to the wetland and woodland areas; and new wildflower meadows.
Helix Trust programme director Mike King said: "The Central Park is the beating heart of the project and this latest contract award will help establish key connections between the various elements of the Helix."
