Cardiff City Football Club (CCFC) has confirmed that chair and chief executive Peter Ridsdale will step down from his position on 31 May.

It follows the Coca-Cola Championship club's successful bid to secure new investment, which will allow the restructuring of the club's existing debt and will be put to shareholders on 27 May. Formerly chair of Leeds United Football Club, Ridsdale joined CCFC in 2005 and helped the club to deliver its new stadium.

Meanwhile, Hull City Football Club (HCFC) has insisted that it will not have to enter administration after it was relegated from the Premier League. HCFC owner Russell Bartlett said: "As we had anticipated, we will need to reduce our outgoings to a level that is sustainable over the longer term."

Scottish Premier League club Heart of Midlothian (Hearts) has reported an £8.6m operating loss for the 12 months ending 31 July 2009 as its debts climbed to nearly £35m. However, a club spokesperson revealed the club had reduced its employment costs by 7 per cent during the period, which helped contribute towards overall savings of more than £3m. Operational costs also fell by 31 per cent.

Elsewhere, City Fans United - the supporters group behind the reformed Chester City Football Club - is expected to find out if it will be successful in obtaining the lease to the Deva Stadium. Chester West and Chester Council is set to be made this week in time for the organisation to submit its finalised application to the Football Association.
