Runnymede Borough Council in Surrey is investing £2.3m on upgrading and refurbishing its leisure portfolio.

The gym at Egham Leisure Centre is being fitted with new equipment, and will reopen this month. A further development phase – involving the construction of six third-generation, five-a-side artificial football pitches – is scheduled for October. Existing facilities include a dance studio, sports hall, tennis courts, and three grass football pitches.

Meanwhile, the Abbey Fit Sports Centre – a dual-use facility attached to Jubilee High School, Addlestone – will receive a new fitness suite.

Life Fitness will supply all new equipment in a deal worth £300,000 across the two sites.
