Salisbury Council publishes tourism action plan
Salisbury District Council has published a 10-year action plan to ensure that South Wiltshire’s £150m tourism industry continues to thrive.
The tourism strategy aims to improve the quality and quantity of accommodation, develop the short break market and introduce an online accommodation availability service for visitors to South Wiltshire.
In addition, the quality of visitor attractions will be enhanced within an environmentally sustainable tourist market, which will develop rural South Wiltshire as an identifiable tourist destination.
The strategy came about as a result of extensive consultations with the tourism trade through the Salisbury and Stonehenge Tourism Partnership.
Mary Webb, chair of the partnership, said: “It is essential that we continue to develop the tourism product while protecting the environment, so that people will continue to visit our wonderful area for many years to come.” Details: www.salisbury.gov.uk
