Seaworld to feature Aquatica waterpark
SeaWorld has launched a new waterpark in Orlando, Florida, US, called Aquatica.
The new 60-acre visitor attraction will comprise 36 water slides, six rivers and lagoons and an 80,000sq ft (7,430sq m) beach area.
The park’s two wave lagoons can be operated independently or together. One lagoon will offer crashing waves and 5ft swells, whereas the other will feature gently rolling surf. In addition, nine different wave patterns will be created throughout the two pools, ranging from one immense wave to ‘dueling’ waves.
Aquatica’s winding rivers will offer visitors two different journeys. One river will carry guests through gentle waterfalls, past exotic birds and into an undersea grotto filled with colourful fish, while an adjacent river will offer thrill rides through rapids and geysers.
Eight-lane racing slides, triple-drop raft rides, double-inner tubes and a six-storey family ride will also be on offer.
The park’s signature attraction will be a plunge ride in transparent tubes through a blue lagoon filled with Commerson’s dolphins, to give visitors the impression of swimming with marine animals.
Jim Atchison, executive vice president of SeaWorld Orlando, said: “We are famous for immersing guests in the mystery of the sea and its animals, and Aquatica takes this immersion to a new level, inviting guests to play in, over and under the water.”
The attraction is scheduled to open in March 2008.
