Denmark’s Fitness World expands into Poland
Danish health club giant Fitness World has acquired the Polish gym group Condizione as part of ongoing expansion plans.
Having snapped up the Danish arm of Fresh Fitness in December, Fitness World has now taken control of five sites in Poland. The health clubs, of which one is under construction, are located in Jelenia Gora, Kalisz, Legnica, Swidnica and Wroclaw.
Fitness World is eager to gain a solid foothold in the ripe Polish market and views Condizione as a good cultural match.
“We share the same ambition of bringing better fitness to more people and are impressed with what Condizione has done this far”, said Fitness World founder and chair Henrik Rossing.
”The Polish market seems similar to what we saw in Denmark a few years back and the ambition is to do in Poland what we have successfully done in Denmark, respecting that we are not yet familiar with this market and very aware that there are cultural and structural differences that needs to be taken into account.”
The latest acquisition – of which financial details have not been disclosed – takes the Fitness World empire up to 150 clubs serving 450,000 members.
