Indoor ski complex to open in Selby
Local people living in Selby, North Yorkshire will be able to take part in indoor skiing following the construction of the £5.3m (US$7.5m, €6.7m) Summit Indoor Adventure centre in the town.
Two ski slopes have been installed in Summit Indoor Adventure in Scott Road, which is expected to be open to the public in May.
The facility is also going to include a six-lane 10 pin bowling facility, adventure climbing, aerial trekking ropes set above an indoor skate and BMX park, and outdoor skate park and an adventure play zone. The Summit Indoor Adventure centre will be connected to Selby’s existing leisure centre via a glass walkway.
Alliance Leisure is delivering the project for the council, while social enterprise Inspiring Healthy Lifestyles will manage the centre.
“The ski attraction is just one of the attractions that will be available to encourage people to be active and healthy in an enjoyable way,” said Dave Peart, Selby District Council’s executive member for housing, leisure, health and culture.
“I look forward to seeing residents enjoying this great new leisure village on their doorstep, as well as welcoming visitors from outside the district to make use of these fantastic new facilities.”
