Family attraction Paultons Park in Hampshire, UK, has launched a £1m ride and will be opening a new children's water park later this year.

The ride, called EDGE, comprises a giant rotating disc able to accommodate up to 40 seated people and reaches heights of 15m and speeds of up to 43 miles an hour on 92m of track with a 'camelback' hill. Opening this Easter, Water Kingdom – a 8,500sq ft (789sq m) young children's splash park – will feature more than 20 ways of getting wet including water jets, giant tipping buckets and super soaker.

“When considering new attractions we always look to add something that will appeal to all our guests, whatever their age” said Stephen Lorton, commercial director at Paultons. “While the EDGE complements the other larger rides at the Park and is sure to appeal to both adults and older children, Water Kingdom is specifically designed for the smaller kids to enjoy." Paulton has over 50 rides and attractions as well as a collection of exotic birds and animals, a museum and a working Victorian waterwheel set in over 140 acres of parkland on the edge of the New Forest National Park.
