Sneha Divias Atelier designs calming restaurant for kids
Sneha Divias Atelier have designed a children’s restaurant and concept store in Dubai that uses colours and materials to create an environment that is comfortable, calming and conducive to learning.
Unlike many spaces designed for children, White & the Bear doesn’t use a primary colour palette. Instead, neutral colours and warms tones accompany a minimalist design and materials were chosen for their aesthetic and maintenance requirements.
Despite that, there are playful elements throughout the restaurant, like bird-shaped lights that hang from the ceiling, chairs with ears and graphic design motifs dotted around. Different sized seating ensures that both adults and children are comfortable, while the restaurant’s washrooms are designed for children’s height.
On the ground floor, the restaurant is integrated with retail elements, like shelving to display merchandise. Upstairs, there's a reading area, workshops and birthday party rooms and a nursing area. Glass partitions separate the space.
Sneha Divias Atelier worked on the project in partnership with the contractor Neotech and the graphic design team Yellow. It began in May 2018 and was completed in May this year.
