Spectator sports to continue at Bromsgrove venue
Bromsgrove's Victoria Ground has been allowed to continue hosting spectator sporting events by Worcestershire County Council (WCC), subject to conditions.
The venue is used by Bromsgrove Rovers Football Club for its home games but does not have a current safety certificate. However, it will continue to host events while the club restricts access to two stands. WCC emergency planning manager Nick Riding said: "Our regulatory powers apply to sports grounds that provide any covered stand capable of holding 500 or more people.
"Since the Victoria Ground is not a designated stadium, a safety certificate is not required as long as those stands are not provided to spectators. We're content that the ground complies with legislation under those circumstances."
