Tees Active launches Young Person’s Active Health Scheme
Tees Active, the sports trust managing leisure facilities on behalf of Stockton on Tees Borough Council, has launched a new scheme aimed at increasing young people’s participation in physical activity.
The Young Person’s Active Health Scheme consists of an initial consultation where the child’s needs are assessed and a 10-week plan agreed.
Advice is also given on nutrition and tackling obesity.
Through the scheme, each child will have access to a range of physical activity sessions and a year’s free usage of the trust’s Active Life Centres.
Children can be referred to the scheme either by their GP or by a parent/carer who thinks they have health concerns.
After the scheme the children can move onto Tees Active’s Active Start and Teenactiv8 programmes for children aged 5-16.
