Fitness4Less acquires Cheltenham club
Low-cost health club operator Fitness4Less has confirmed the purchase of a Bannatyne site in Cheltenham as part of its "aggressive" expansion strategy.
The new Cheltenham location adds to recent openings in Cambridge Heath and Southwark, both in London; Newport, South Wales; and Nottingham. A free weights area and a wide number of cardiovascular and resistance machines will be on offer at the Cheltenham facility, as well as two class studio and saunas.
Fitness4Less also has sites in Bristol, Watford and Birmingham, while new clubs in Cardiff and Sutton are due to open this summer and January 2012 respectively. "The Cheltenham club ideally suits the Fitness4Less model. It is in a city centre location close to available car parking and major transport links," said chief executive Matthew Harris.
"We are looking forward to offering the people of Cheltenham a high quality gym facility at a truly affordable price." Nigel Armstrong, managing director of the Bannatyne Group, added: "Without the prospect of extending the health club to include a swimming pool and a spa, it no longer fits with our operating model.
"In contrast, the health club does offer a high quality fitness provision with an established membership base that will be of real benefit to the Fitness4Less portfolio."
