£537k funding for Hadrian's Wall project
SITA Trust, the not-for-profit funding organisation, has announced it has awarded £537,000 towards a project designed to "properly conserve" the central section of Hadrian's Wall.
Hadrian's Wall Heritage is leading the conservation scheme at the World Heritage Site, with some of the parts to receive work currently listed on the Heritage At Risk register.
The funding will also be used to enhance access at other locations along Hadrian's Wall, as well as improvements to interpretation and signage to increase visitor numbers.
SITA Trust's Jools Granville said: "We hope that this significant grant will encourage other funders to come forward to support Hadrian's Wall, ultimately removing all sections from the Heritage At Risk register."
