David Stalker named chair of Fit For Sport
Former ukactive CEO David Stalker has been named chair of Fit For Sport, one of two new non-executive appointments to the company’s board.
Stalker, who left ukactive earlier this year to set up trampolining company Oxygen Freejumping, will seek to strengthen Fit For Sport’s existing partnerships and form new alliances as it bids to engage more young people in physical activity. He will harness his experience from seven years at the helm at ukactive, as well as his role as chair of CIMSPA, to champion the role health and fitness professionals can play in tackling children’s inactivity.
Meanwhile, educational consultant Jeannette Pearson will also join the Fit For Sport board in a non-executive capacity. With her experience as director of an international recruitment and educational consultancy, Pearson has been brought in to support Fit For Sport’s expansion. Pearson will also play an advisory role in helping Fit For Sport recruit the best children’s activity professionals to train, support and deliver physical activity for children and young people.
“David and Jeannette bring with them a wealth of experience and knowledge that will be invaluable to Fit For Sport,” said Dean Horridge, CEO and founder of Fit For Sport.
“Our focus remains on providing industry and schools with the knowledge and tools to set young people on a journey to an active life, and the expansion of our board will help us to achieve this.”
