Architecture and neuroscience – London conference will explore the connection
A conference exploring the relationship between neuroscience and architecture will take place at the London headquarters of engineering firm Arup next month.
Taking place on 1 March, the one-day Conscious Cities event has been organised by London’s Museum of Architecture and THECUBE – a collective of scientists, engineers, designers, technologists, artists, futurists and anthropologists.
Among the topics under discussion will be how our built environments affect behaviour and cognition, how the latest findings in neuroscience can inform the design of spaces and cities, and the role of technology in creating conscious spaces.
A number of neuroscientists, architects, engineers, planners and developers will speak at the event, including Professor Carlo Ratti, director of research initiative MIT SENSEable City Lab; Josef Hargrave, an associate with the Arup Foresight Group; and Philip Tidd, a principal at international architecture practice Gensler.
