Clubbercise launches teenage classes

By Tom Walker    18 Jul 2016
The family-friendly classes will target the 11-16 age bracket

Clubbercise, the dance fitness class which claims to ‘bring a night out to a workout’, has launched a new class aimed at the hard-to-reach teenage market.

Specifically targeting the 11-16 age bracket, Clubbercise U18 has been designed to be safe, engaging and entertaining for young people looking to get physically active.

Mixing components from the original adults’ class with youth-oriented elements, Clubbercise U18 will feature flashing LED light glow sticks and disco lights. Routines consist of easy-to-follow aerobic and street dance moves designed to suit all abilities, including those with disabilities.

To appeal to the youth market the U18 class is set to a more modern soundtrack than the adults class with the very latest chart hits. It also features more interactive elements to keep young people engaged throughout the 45 minute class.

Clubbercise U18 was devised following requests from parents to bring their children to adult Clubbercise classes.

Claire Burlison Green, Clubbercise co-founder, said: "We did some research and found a massive gap in the market for family fitness classes. Launching our Clubbercise U18 concept is about providing a fresh, fun, non-intimidating gateway to fitness for all young people, including those with disabilities.

"At the same time we want to help combat obesity in the younger market. I felt really saddened to read a report by ukactive which stated that 50 per cent of 15 year-old girls do not enjoy sport at school. It’s vital we help people of all ages keep active to prevent obesity and illness in later life."
