London 2017 plans legacy programme
Children in 17 developing countries will be targeted as part of an international legacy project if London is successful in its bid to host the 2017 World Athletics Championships.
Based on London 2012's International Inspiration, the LEAP 2017 development programme will look to reach out to 2 million young people around the world over a four-year period.
It is anticipated that LEAP 2017 will build on an existing partnership between UK Sport and the International Association of Athletics Federations to develop youth athletics schemes.
London 2017 bid president Sebastian Coe said: "The London 2017 Bid Team is determined that the 2017 IAAF World Championships will act as a catalyst for the continued development of our sport.
"LEAP 2017 will connect more young people around the world with the opportunity to experience, play and practice sport in their communities."
