New figures reveal Wales' Ryder Cup legacy
By Pete Hayman 10 Apr 2012
The Welsh Government has published new figures showing an increase in the value of golf tourism to the economy in a "continuing legacy" from hosting the 2010 Ryder Cup.
Between 2004 and 2011, the annual total volume of golf visits to Wales grew by 36 per cent and expenditure is up year-on-year from £23m to £38.4m - the 2010 peak of £41.4m aside.
Business minister Edwina Hart said: "There is no doubt the ability to host the Ryder Cup and the associated marketing campaign has raised the profile of Wales tremendously."
