Minnesota state governor signs Vikings stadium agreement
Image: The venue will take three years to build
Minnesota state governor Mark Dayton has signed an agreement that paves the way for Minnesota Vikings' new US$975m (EUR788m, £617m) stadium in Minneapolis, US.
The National Football League (NFL) team's plans for the downtown facility were given the backing of both the state's House of Representatives and Senate earlier this month.
It is anticipated the 65,000-capacity stadium itself will cost US$828m (EUR652m, £524m), with the remainder of the cost relating to on-site infrastructure and relocation.
The new 1.5 million sq ft (139,355sq m) stadium, which will also be able to cater for 72,000 spectators if selected to host the Super Bowl, is expected to take three years to build.
