Themed playground in Plymouth
The largest free-to-use adventure playgrounds in the South West, and one of the largest in the UK, is due to open at Plymouth's Central Park in Easter 2003.
Part of the a revamp to the park, the 3,500sq ft playground will cater for all ages, from toddlers to teenager. It will be themed around the seven continents and will feature a wide range of innovative dry and water-based activities.
Embracing the spirit of discovery, the playground will be divided into distinctive areas based around the seven continents. The Antarctica zone will include interactive water features, such as a cage formed by a ring of vertical stream jets and water spray arch. The equipment in the European zone will interpret Plymouth's landmarks and history.
Kompan has been appointed to supply and install the playground, which is the brainchild of nine-year-old Ben Anderson, who won a competition to come up with a theme for it.
