Travelers are facing a third day of chaos at the newly opened £4.5bn Terminal 5 at London’s Heathrow Airport.
More than 50 flights from the terminal have been cancelled for Saturday and there are still severe delays and problems with the luggage check-in system.
During the past two days British Airways (BA), which is the only carrier to use the T5, has been forced to cancel tens of flights and issued a statement saying that the calamitous beginning to life at T5 was "not its greatest hour".
Hundreds of stranded passengers who missed their flights on Friday have returned to the terminal adding to the already impressive queues.
According to the BBC, some passengers are facing the torment of spending a third day at the airport, after being turned back on both Thursday and Friday.
The BAA website described the opening of the terminal as an event which will “make flying in and out of London as easy and enjoyable as it should be.“
Designed by Rogers Stirk Harbour & Partners, the terminal is supposed to handle 30 million passengers a year – more than 80,000 a day.
