Tottenham Hotspur reports record profits
Player sales and an increase in television revenue has helped Tottenham Hotspur Football Club (THFC) to report record pre-tax profits of £33.4m for the year ending 30 June 2009.
The club generated £56.5m in player sales - including £30.7m from the transfer of Dimitar Berbatov to Manchester United - while group net assets increased from £42.6m to £62.1m compared with the previous year. Construction work has now started on a new training facility for THFC's first team and academy at Bull's Cross, Enfield, while the Premier League club has recently submitted plans for a new 56,000-seat stadium.
THFC chair Daniel Levy said: "We have always had three key priorities and you will have heard them oft repeated - investment in the first team, a new Training Centre and an increased capacity state-of the-art new stadium. "We have assembled what we believe to be one of the most talented squads we have had during our time in the Premier League, the ground is being turned and pitches laid for the new training centre at Bulls Cross in Enfield and we have submitted a planning application for a stunning new stadium on a site next to our existing stadium."
