The precise location of one of Britain's most famous lost battlefields has been revealed, following an archaeological survey funded by a Heritage Lottery Fund grant.

The latest discoveries, announced by Leicestershire County Council (LCC), pinpoint the exact location of Bosworth Battlefield - where Henry Tudor and King Richard III clashed on 22 August 1485 - and shed new light on the way the battle was fought and where King Richard III died. The new site is 3km (1.86 miles) south-west of Ambion Hill, on which the LCC Heritage Centre now stands, and 1km (0.6 mile) west of the location originally suggested.

Finds from the battle will be on view in a new gallery at the Heritage Centre from this Easter. An outdoor interpretation trail, which will include a view of the battlefield, is to be developed for the autumn and will be accessible from the centre.
