Campbell introduced to House of Lords
Chair of UK Sport and Youth Sport Trust, Sue Campbell CBE, has been introduced to the House of Lords as Baroness Campbell of Loughborough, to serve as the first non-political cross-bench peer appointed for sport.
The appointment of Campbell was announced in September, and recognises the major contribution she has made to British sport in a number of senior positions over several decades. Formerly the chief executive of the National Coaching Foundation for 11 years, Campbell was appointed chair of UK Sport in 2003, and became chair of Youth Sport Trust in 2005 following 10 years as chief executive.
Campbell said: "To be recognised by the Lords for your achievements is a huge honour. My passion remains as strong as ever and I very much look forward to working with fellow peers to drive sport forward in the UK – both at elite level and within the education system."
