WSFF in line for £73,000 William Hill boost?
William Hill has announced that it will award £73,000 to the Women's Sports and Fitness Foundation (WSFF) if England's women win the FIFA 2011 World Cup this summer.
The charity has joined forces with the bookmaker in a bid to promote England's chances at the tournament, which experts believe could help raise the profile of women's sport. It is hoped that an England World Cup win would increase participation in football across England, while growing the amount of sports media coverage that the female game receives.
WSFF chief executive Sue Tibballs said: "If England win the World Cup it will be a real game changer for women's sport in this country, so we've teamed up with William Hill to celebrate what we think would be the greatest ever moment in women's sport." William Hill's Graham Sharpe added: "Women's football is definitely on the up now - the FA Women's Super League has had a great start, and now we're off to Germany to deliver the goods as a national team."
