Walnuts gym opens in Bromley
A new active lifestyle gym has opened at the Walnuts Leisure Centre in Orpington.
The revamped health club replaces the centre’s original gym and boasts 20 new exercise stations, a separate spinning studio, and new male changing rooms.
The £400,000 redevelopment project was funded by leisure trust Bromley Mytime, which operates the facility.
The centre aims to attract people of all ages to the facility by offering a programme of group and personal training options.
These include lifestyle assessments and comprehensive exercise advice; one to one personal training options; a range of more than 40 exercise programmes for all ages and abilities; and exercise referrals programmes for people with medical conditions.
Bromley’s mayor, councillor Pauline Tunnicliffe, said: “It’s great to see new services like this being introduced to help everyone stay fit and healthy, and to appeal to older and non-sporty people who are encouraged through Primetime activities, or referred to exercise by their GP.
“For the non-active this new gym is brilliant as it’s designed to accommodate first timers as well as experienced fitness users.”
Since its inception in 2004, Bromley Mytime has invested more than £4m in improving local leisure services.
