Castleford Tigers submit stadium proposals
Castleford Tigers rugby league club has submitted detailed plans for the development of a new stadium at Glasshoughton, West Yorkshire.
Tigers chief executive Richard Wright delivered the application to Wakefield Metropolitan District Council on 23 December. Proposals include a 13,300-capacity stadium near Junction 32 of the M62, which is due to open in 2012 and part of its bid to retain Super League status.
It is hoped a decision will be made by the end of March, with the council having already agreed to provide £2m towards the scheme. Wright said: "Working with Ramsden and Partners, I am extremely confident that the detailed plans we are submitting will provide us with the consent we need.
"The Super League timetable is getting closer, but everyone is working really hard to deliver the stadium."
