VisitScotland has announced the launch of its new Drive It Home marketing campaign in a bid to promote golf tourism, which is worth GBP220m to the country's economy.

The initiative will focus on primary golfing markets such as the UK, Germany, Sweden and North America by offering a Ryder Cup-style competition at a number of locations.

Drive It Home will give golf fans the opportunity to play on the PGA Centenary Course at Gleneagles, which is scheduled to host the Ryder Cup between Europe and the US in 2014.

VisitScotland chief executive Malcolm Roughead said: "The campaign really shows what Scotland has to offer in terms of excellent golf with accommodation and service to match."
