Bristol Rovers to submit stadium plans
Plans for Bristol Rovers Football Club's (BRFC) new stadium to be built on land adjacent to the University of West England's Frenchay campus are to be submitted today (9 March).
South Gloucestershire Council (SGC) will be responsible for deciding the fate of the npower League Two club's proposed development, which has been designed by Arturus Architects.
Gleeds, Pegasus Planning Consultants and transport adviser TPA have worked with club officials in drawing up the plans, which also provides a new home for Bristol Rugby Club.
The 21,700-seat stadium will comprise a bowl design and will meet all FIFA and International Rugby Union standards, with facilities including a gym and a jogging track.
BRFC chair Nick Higgs said: "We believe this new stadium will not only benefit Bristol Rovers and Bristol Rugby Club, but also the wider community.
"We would like to emulate the success of clubs like Reading, Swansea and Brighton, who started with a similar fanbase to us and have achieved great things since moving to a new stadium."
