Salford Community Leisure has opened its largest ever-fitness facility after £350,000 has been invested in the former Fit City Pendlebury.

The rechristened Swinton & Pendlebury Leisure centre now benefits from an enlarged gym, with 86 pieces of equipment for cardio and strength training spread over two floors. The centre also has new functional training equipment and has a new dedicated “Spin Area” with 20 bikes.

In addition to the 25-metre swimming pool, there is now a bespoke fitness studio, a refurbished multi-purpose sports hall and renovated changing rooms.

Ian Stewart, City mayor of Salford said, “In recent years, local leisure facilities in Salford have benefited from more than £10m investment to provide the highest quality facilities at affordable prices for local people. Swinton and Pendlebury Leisure Centre’s £350,000 refurbishment has created a fantastic facility for the local community to improve their health, well-being and fitness for years to come.”
