New student pilot scheme offers free entry to Malta's heritage sites
Heritage Malta – Malta’s national agency for museums, conservation practice and cultural heritage – has launched a new programme for primary school students offering free entry to the island nation’s historic sites.
Working in collaboration of the Ministry for Justice, Culture and Local Government and the Ministry for Education and Employment, Heritage Malta launched the pilot Student Membership Scheme last September, with more than 5,000 applications made since then.
A membership will allow free entrance to primary school students visiting Heritage Malta sites and a 50 per cent discount on the entrance fee for up to two adults accompanying the student. The card will also give retail discounts and will offer discounts for special events or activities held at Heritage Malta sites.
Applications for the scheme are being accepted until the end of January, with memberships now being distributed.
“Primary schools around Malta and Gozo started receiving Heritage Malta’s Student Membership Card for distribution to students who applied for this incentive,” said Heritage Malta. “More than 5,000 applications have registered so far. The demand is very encouraging and applications are still open.”
