Welsh club set for stadium move
The Welsh Premier League club, Newi Cefn Druids, are set to move to a new purpose-built stadium at Rhosymedre, near Wrexham.
It is part of a wider regeneration plan for the village of Cefn Mawr, which will see a new Tesco store built on the club's current home at Plaskynaston. Plans for the new stadium include a 500-seat stand and covered terracing, as well as dressing rooms, medical and drug-testing room, and a media room.
In a statement, the club's chair, Brian Mackie, said: "The new purpose-built stadium facility will help secure the future of Druids Football Club. It will ensure we can continue to operate in the top league in Wales by being able to meet the required criteria to compete in the Welsh Premier League from 2010-11." "The development will be of particular benefit to our youth and academy programme, which is currently run from Wrexham due to the lack of facilities in the area."
