New owner unveils Bath Rugby plans
Bath Rugby's new owner Bruce Craig has unveiled plans for a new 25,000-seat stadium after acquiring full ownership of the Guinness Premiership club.
Craig has taken control after purchasing a 100 per cent stake from previous owner Andrew Brownsword and club trustees, with plans to also create a new headquarters and training complex. It is hoped that proposals for the new stadium development will be confirmed within the next 12 months, which will replace the club's current home at the 11,700-capacity Recreation Ground.
A new training complex and headquarters at Farleigh House, which is situated in Farleigh Hungerford and would be renovated to boast a weight room, a gymnasium and other training and team rooms. Craig said: "My aim is for Bath to earn the right to be seen as one of the best clubs in professional rugby - a benchmark for others both on and off the field - and create a stronger infrastructure for future sustainability.
"Subject to approval, this will involve new training facilities for players, a new headquarters for all our staff and a stadium that is truly fit for a world renowned club like Bath, to take Bath Rugby to the next stage of its development in the professional game."
